India’s electric scooter market is expanding faster than any other EV segment, and manufacturers are gearing up with new launches to meet the rising demand. Several popular two-wheeler brands are preparing to enter or strengthen their position in the EV space with next-generation models. Here’s a look at the five major electric scooters set to hit Indian roads next year.

Design-wise, the Aerox-E carries forward the sporty DNA of the ICE Aerox but adds EV-specific elements. Key features include:
Three ride modes: Eco, Standard, and Power
Reverse assist
Smart key system
5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth
Traction control
2. Yamaha EC-06
The EC-06 will arrive alongside the Aerox-E in the first quarter of 2026. Developed in collaboration with River Mobility, this model targets a wide segment of everyday commuters. It comes with:
4 kWh fixed battery
160 km claimed range
4.5 kW motor with 6.7 kW peak output
The EC-06 offers practical features such as an LCD instrument cluster, telematics, multiple riding modes, and reverse assist. Production will take place at River’s facility in India.

Bajaj’s popular Chetak electric scooter is due for a significant upgrade. A heavily updated test mule has already been spotted, revealing changes such as:
New tail lamp design
Revised rear tyre hugger
Flatter and longer seat
Updated switchgear
Expected to launch next year, the new Chetak will likely continue with the proven 3.5 kWh battery, offering a range of around 150 km per charge.

Simple Energy is also stepping into the family-scooter category with a new model, as indicated by a recently leaked design patent. The scooter adopts a more functional and minimalistic approach, featuring:
Long, spacious seat
LED headlamp
Wide body panels
Flat floorboard
Technical specifications remain undisclosed, but the brand is expected to introduce this practical scooter sometime next year.
5. Ather EL Series
Ather is developing an all-new lineup based on its EL platform, showcased earlier this year. This next-gen architecture will support multiple electric scooters and brings advanced features like:
AEBS (Advanced Electronic Braking System)
