Tata Altroz Clinches 5-Star Safety on All Fronts in Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

Tata Motors has once again raised the bar in hatchback safety. Its all-new Altroz has secured a full 5-star safety rating under the Bharat NCAP scheme — across all three powertrains: petrol, diesel, and CNG. This makes it one of the safest premium hatchbacks on Indian roads.

Scoring Details & What It Means

Adult occupant protection (AOP): Altroz scored 29.65 out of 32 possible points.

Child occupant protection (COP): It achieved 44.90 out of 49.

It’s significant because Altroz becomes the first hatchback in India to get 5 stars across all its fuel options. Earlier, different models sometimes had high safety ratings but only for some variants. With this, Altroz sets a benchmark.
Safety Features and Structure

Altroz’s strong performance is underpinned by:

A strong safety architecture: built on Tata’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform, with reinforced crumple zones and structural integrity designed to absorb impact.

Standard safety kit includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a robust 3-point seatbelt system for all occupants. Higher trims bring in more: 360° HD surround-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring, etc.

Additional driver-assist and convenience features that also contribute to safer real-world usability (visibility, alerts, etc.).

Implications & Context

For buyers: This is great news if you’re looking for a hatchback that doesn’t compromise safety, whichever fuel type you prefer. Even the CNG version passed with flying colours.

For Tata: It strengthens their position in safety innovation and helps raise standards in the segment. Altroz already had a strong safety reputation (it was 5 stars in Global NCAP back in 2020 for adult occupant safety), but this new Bharat NCAP result cements it further.

For the industry: As more competitors strive to match or better these safety marks, we may see improved safety features become standard even in lower trims. It could push up the baseline safety across all brands.
